Gifted Gorgeousness: May Edition

It's mid-May and that means it's time to talk about all our stitching with gifted materials or for gifts, or for however you can fit the category. Check out Jo's blog for all the details and to see who else is participating this month.

I've been participating in Stitch Maynia, which I made a WIP Maynia, so I have pulled out several projects since last month. Let's see where we're at with everything:

Fishing - for my uncle
with charted DMC 2 over 2 on 28ct Tempest by Chromatic Alchemy

Letters From Nora - L - for a friend

Land of the Dinosaurs - for DD
with charted DMC 2 over 2 on 28ct Nimbus (?) by Chromatic Alchemy
Mini Winter Magic - for DD
Dragon Under Glass - for DH
 Bailey Basset - for DH
 Spider Banner - for DD

I was so excited to get this one out again. Again, I think a solid week should finish this one off. So I could add this to the pile with Fishing and Tribal Dragon and get 3 finishes within the next month or so. We'll see how it goes.

I also decided on a project for my co-worker:

And I'll start this after Stitch Maynia, so tomorrow! It can be found on Etsy here.

Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness 2018: April Edition

It's the 15th of the month again and time to post about our Gifted Gorgeousness! What we're stitching, what we've received, anything we can shoe horn into the theme. Check out everyone's posts over at our fabulous host, Jo's blog

Fishing - for my uncle
28 ct Tempest by Chromatic Alchemy with charted threads

This is getting really close, I think I'll try and stick with it until it's complete. One reason I'd like to is this uncle also recently had bypass surgery. He came through it fine, but makes me think I should just finish it and get it sent to him. I started the backstitch too, and I do like the effect so far.

Full Moon - DD
28 ct Lazurite by Chromatic Alchemy with charted threads

I really love this pattern and have been enjoying stitching it. I need to actually pull all the colours and have it set, but I keep getting pulled back by older WIPs I need to finish too.

Kiss for a Snowman - DD
14 ct white Aida with charted threads

I decided to pull out a different colour instead of green or blue.

Princess and the Dragon - DD was here:
and now:
28 ct Amarinthine by Chromatic Alchemy

Full size so far

It was nice to get this out again at a recent conference and get a fair bit done. I decided the bottom would be easier if I did 10 squares across and then moved up or down to try and break up the long patch of black.

Hell is Other People - for a friend who works in retail

14 ct Aida, unknown dyer and stash threads

This was my first Subversive Cross Stitch design that I stitched and it won't be the last. I bought a few patterns when they were having a sale a month or so ago. I think my friend will get a kick out of this one

I Love You More Today - DH
28 ct Eye of Newt by Chromatic Alchemy

I got a few more stitches in this one as well for DH. It kind of fits as things haven't been as smooth the last few months as they have the last 19 years, but I'm sure it will smooth out.

Knitting - Vest for DD's doll
 Finished Skagen Shawl for Grandma

and I finally used my 123stitch gift cards to pick up some Lizzie Kates and one Lanarte:

I had no ideas Lanarte kits came so prettily packaged, that was quite the surprise. It's the animal safari parade one you can see in the above photo.

I hope you all had a great month and check out Jo's blog for everyone's posts.

Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness - March Edition

It's the 15th and I'm actually posting on time for once! Check out all the action at Jo's blog, there were a lot of us last month and I hope there are even more this month. Everyone has been working on so many different and exciting projects and my wish list is growing....

I had a lot of projects out last month for the Olympics and posted about them a little already. Here are some of them yet again just because. :)

See Ya Later Alligator by Jodyri - for DD
stitched on 28 ct Nuriel's Forest with some charted threads and wording in stash threads

Maple Leaf by AAN - for SIL
on Silkweaver? 14ct with WDW Blaze

Monochrome Link from Sprite Stitch - for DH
2 over 1 on 18 ct? with charted threads
Tribal Dragon by WWS - for DD
stitched 1 over 1 on 25 ct pewter Lugana with Caron Wildflowers and Kreinik blending filament

Ballerina Dreams by Dimensions for co-worker
stitched 2 over 1 on 18 ct Petra by Chromatic Alchemy

New start! Full Moon by Cute Patterns by Maria
stitched 2 over 2 on 28 ct Lazurite by Chromatic Alchemy

I recently discovered this designer and love some of her patterns so much! I think I bought 4 already.. whooops!

Knitted vest for DD- complete!
Skagen Shawl by Berroco for my Grandma
knitted on 4.5mm circular needles with Araucania Huasco fingering weight yarn

That's a lot of projects! And I'm disappointed that I'll be stopping Ballerina Dreams for now to try and finish a smaller project. I have an idea I'd like to find a silhouette of a singer with a microphone, but I've had no luck so far. Thank you all for your suggestions as well, I'm still determining what might be best for my friend. Please keep them coming!

Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness 2018 - February Edition

I'm exactly 10 days late for GG posting, so that's a little better than the Zodiac one. Again hosted by the amazingly organized Jo, check out her GG post for all the participants this month.

I have quite a few things I've worked on from January 15th through February 15th thanks to the Olympic stitching, so let's do a quick run through and see if I can list them all without this post getting to novella length.

I'll post the photos and names and talk more about them in my next, closing Olympics post.

Sweater for DD, left front and back complete

Ballerina Dreams - getting there slowly!
Fishing - as it was in the last post
Joy Snowglobe - added one strand of blue
Christmas Dragon - added one strand of Holiday
I Love you More Today - Jodyri design, added a little more
Do Not Meddle - stunt stitching
Kiss for a Snowman - for DD
Butterfly Quote - by Jodyri designs, also for DD

Lots of different projects were worked on this past month since there was the Olympics and it was nice to see some old friends.

Hope you all had a great month and Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness - November Edition

It's halfway through the month and that means it's time again for Gifted Gorgeousness hosted by the unstoppable Jo of Serendipitous Stitching! Join up or check out everyone else's progress here

I've been stitching away at the same old projects the last couple weeks, but here's the round up again. :)

Covered Bridge

I finally figured out how to get a good photo of the colours that doesn't over-highlight everything. I have to kind of tip the project forward, so if the angle looks a little wonky, it is!

Fishing

This probably won't see any progress until we're traveling next week, and hopefully it will get a lot then!

Lakeside Needlecraft Specialy Stitches SAL

Since this was free, it's a "gift" from the designer, Durene Jones. The threads and fabric are by Chromatic Alchemy. The thread was a limited edition one and the fabric is called Realgar.

I hope you've all had a great month since last time and I'll need to go check everyone's progress. Hopefully I'll have some more varied projects next month as we get close to Xmas too. :)

Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness - October Edition

Yikes! I'm 2 days late for GG this month! I will admit to being a little busy with the continued electrical breakdowns from the tree falling on the power lines, plus hosting Canadian Thanksgiving yesterday, but now it's time for the more important things, like stitching!

Hosted by the splendiferous Jo of Serendipitous Stitching, this is where we try and post about all the projects we've worked on that are gifts in some way. Whether we're doing the gifting or received the gift, our monthly post is supposed to be on the 15th of every month.

This month I have 2 finishes sort of that I was working on last month:

Rejoice Tree

I ran out of floss to do the final curlicues on the Rs, but I like the look anyway. I stitched this 3 over 1 on 14 ct aida with Waterlilies Nefertiti. The beads are some petite Mill Hill gold beads I had in my stash.

Letters From Nora - S

This will be for DD, and all the cross stitch is done! It just needs beads after I finish H and G. Speaking of which, here is H:

This is on hold right now as I work on an Xmas gift for a co-worker. What gift you ask?

Vermont

I'm only stitching the DMC 562 2 over 1 on 14 count by Chromatic Alchemy right now. The M is complete at the top and the O might just need another night to finish it off. I'm working from a pattern the designer hand wrote and photocopied on blue paper. This is my first ever time working on such a pattern. It's okay so far, although it's definitely obvious it's handwritten.

One new start is Halloween Monster by Heart in Hand:

And Princess and the Dragon got a little love this month too:

I hope everyone has had a good month!

Happy Stitching,

Tiffstitch

Late June/July Update

I could have sworn I had a post in July about June stitching, but clearly not. So here are 2 months in one! I will say I had less stitching ...
