Gifted Gorgeousness and the Nor'Easter of March 2017

Over yesterday and today there was a blizzard warning in our area and they weren't kidding this time! This is what we woke up to today:
The height of the snow on top of my Beetle.. yes, a small car
The dent left over after I backed up enough to where the driveway was plowed
Mostly pre-snow removal. I started with the headlight, then realized it was a cool photo with the lights coming through the snow
Trying to get out the door

I think we ended up with well over 2 feet, but I didn't actually measure. And now on to stitching! The best thing to do when the blizzard is going on outside, sit inside and stitch. :)

Here's my March Gifted Gorgeousness post and be sure to check out everyone else's links at our wonderful host, Jo's blog

I managed to finish my March design by Palko-lap:
2 over 1 with Jodyri Diligence on unknown Chromatic Alchemy 14 count?

Kiss for a Snowman

I pulled this out at the hockey tournament this past weekend and got over an hour into it. You can see the before photo on Monday's post. This will eventually be for DD, maybe by Xmas?

Princess and the Dragon

This will also be for DD when I get it completed. I'm not expecting a finish this year, but maybe next? I hope to keep at this next week and at least finish off the left side where I had made a mistake.

Autumn's Promise

A new start on a RAK! It will eventually look like this:

Mini Winter Magic

Another RAK from a few years ago and this one got a little more of the top right corner completed.

I'm not sure what else to work on this week. I'm thinking about working on the April monthly design to make sure I mail it off before Easter to my Grandma. March isn't going to get there by St. Patrick's Day since I got a little behind.

I hope you all had a good month of GG stitching and Happy Stitching!

Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 Time Related Charts

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments on my leg. :) It wasn't too bad an injury and is almost better already. Falling is pretty normal in hockey and we used to practice how to fall well and get up fast when I was younger. Here's a video that's been making the rounds of Facebook lately:

We never practiced like this, although it looks like it would have been fun as a kid! Our practice was fall down on one line and get up before you slid to the next line. It was fun too though.

And now for Top 5 Tuesday! Make sure you check out Kate's, Keebs, Laura's and Emma's blogs for their take on this week's theme, Time Related Stitches!

TOP 5 TIME RELATED STITCHES
I'm almost 100% sure I don't have any time-related charts, so this will be all off the top of my head and searching on 123stitch.com. :)

1. Clock Fractal (Fractal 267)

I saw this one stitched up on the Cross Stitch Forum a few years ago, it's incredible!

2. Mad Hatter

Linda is working on this fine one currently. Whenever I think of the Mad Hatter, the quote about "murdering time" comes to mind, so that's why I added this one.

3.  Take Time (Dimensions kit)

I can't remember if I saw Katie stitching this one or if I'm getting it mixed up with a similar chart. It looks like a fairly quick stitch though and could have clock parts added maybe?

4. Halloween Time (Needlework Press)
Because it's fun!

Find this one at the Zen of Making blog. There's a Dalek one as well.

I hope you enjoyed the list and potential stash enhancement ;)

Happy Stitching!

Update on BAP Week (Picture heavy) and Giveaway Winners!

Can anyone tell me where last week went? I swear I last posted a couple days ago, turns out it's almost a week, again! DD and DH both are very sick with significant colds that have had both of them coughing and coughing. So far I've been spared, and I hope that continues.

The hockey tournament was a lot of fun over the weekend! It's a great bunch of players, and they're different than the teammates of the tournament the week before. It's also a little slower, although I still managed to fall 3 times, one in each game, and that's unusual for me. I'm not sure if it's how my skates were sharpened or if the ice was in poor condition. The ice should have been great because it was so cold this weekend! -20C.... yikes!

I managed to pull the calf muscle on my right leg during one fall. I kind of fell into the boards, so I was lucky that was all that happened really. Here's my recovery position:

This was during the 2nd game and I felt okay to play the 3rd game. It was good overall and we all had a lot of fun!

Let's do the giveaway first. I had 3 people ask for the LK Smile chart and the winner was Leonore! There were 2 people that requested the LK Angels chart and the winner was Mini!

Congratulations both of you and please email me your addresses.

Now on to the updates! I didn't work on a different project every day for March Madness (part of Theme-tas-Stitch), but I did work on a lot of BAPs. The ones I haven't shown updates for are:

Moon Hare (hard to tell progress)

Mini Winter Magic (top right corner)

Autumns Promise - new start!
2 over 1 tent stitch on 28 count Polar Blast by Chromatic Alchemy

I'm hoping to not stitch in the background, sort of work out from the dragon and see what fits.

Princess and the Dragon

I'm still working on fixing the error, so this will come back out after this SAL week.

Since I had some time between games on Saturday, I managed to stitch on my travel project, A Kiss for a Snowman, which was here:
and is now here:

and of course I went to The Wooden Needle and had a nice browse through the store. I managed to keep myself to these:

There may be one or two more I didn't include in the photo because they'll be part of Kaye's Easter Exchange this year.

I think DD will like the lion/mouse one and I think my Grandma might like the covered bridge since that's a very Vermont scene. The others were in the clearance bin, so they had to come home with me too. :)

I hope you all had a good week, and I will get my Top 5 Tuesday post up late tomorrow unless the impending snow cuts the power.

Happy Stitching!

Top 5 Tuesdays: Top 5 Quick Stitches in My Stash

It's Tuesday and time again for Top 5 Tuesdays! Kate has another great theme, and a fun way to dig through stash or wish lists: Top 5 Quick Stitches.

I tend to stitch on slightly larger than quick stitches, and I'm not counting the HaED Quick Stitches as something you can actually stitch quickly, since that is only relative to a full size HAED.

I decided to go with 2 groups of 5 again, and make sure to check out Emma's and Keeble's blogs as well.

TOP 5 QUICK STITCHES - Charts

1. House of Bats

This is one of a pile of charts I found at a resale shop. For $2, you can't go wrong!

2. February Glows

Another resale shop find! I meant to stitch this for Valentine's Day this year, but it didn't quite happen.

3. True Friends

I received this from the wonderful Kim as one of her birthday RAKs. Thank you again! I have an idea of changing this to Xmas colours for a gift this year.

4. Be Mine Valentine

5. Friends Are Like Angels

I think this is part of the charts I picked up for $1 or $2 at the resale shop as well. I'm not sure that I'll ever stitch this one though, so if anyone would like it, please let me know.

I have a couple other smalls I may mention at the end, but let's switch to kits:

TOP 5 QUICK STITCHES - Kits

1. Rocking Horse
 2. Snowflake Tree
 sorry this one is blurry!
3. Normal
I'm counting this as a kit since it comes with the fabric and that's usually the more expensive part of the whole project.

4. Victorian Tree
my photo was so blurry I got this from 123stitch.com

5. Paisley Tree
my photo was too blurry again, this is from 123stitch.com

I have a couple other smalls in my smalls pile, one that I finished:
although it's not finished-finished yet...

and another one I think I'd like to give away:

I feel like it doesn't quite fit what I'm into stitching, so I'd be happy to pass it on. If you'd like either chart, please let me know. If there are a few people interested I'll do a random number pick after the weekend, so let me know by midnight EST on March 12, 2017 please!

Happy Stitching!

Updates on BAP Week Stitching

I stuck with one thread per day in Princess and the Dragon and managed to get to here successfully:

And then I managed to stitch a little more the next day and get here slightly less successfully:

I say it this way because I made an error near the top of the arch somewhere and I have to try and figure out where it is. Fortunately with the pattern I'm able to keep what I've stitched and will have to start from where I know it's correct at the top of the arch and go from there and try and fix it. Boo... But I guess you could look at it as I need to stick with this longer, because there's no way I'm going to remember I did this next time I get it out.

I also stitched on Dragon Under Glass one night:

and Bailey Basset, which was here:

and I filled in most of the diagonal bits to get to here:

I'm stitching this one 2 over 1 tent stitch on 25 ct charcoal linen and hope to get back to this at some point as well.

I had an ice hockey tournament this weekend, so 2 nights I only had time for Princess and the Dragon. If you want to see what I look like with my helmet on:

It was fun, and I have another tournament this coming weekend. This next one is in Stowe, Vermont and the arena just happens to be less than a mile from The Wooden Needle, my closest LNS. :D And we have hours between the games on Saturday, and DH and DD won't be able to join me on Saturday, so I will have so much time to look at everything! The owner might have to kick me out eventually.

I'm only looking forward to it a little bit.............

Tonight I hope to get the bunny HAED from WOXS out again and get a little bit into it after I finish my one thread on Princess and the Dragon. Wish me luck!

Happy Stitching!

Oops! plus edit

So I was looking back over yesterday's post and realized I had put up the wrong photo of Princess and the Dragon.

I posted this one:

and I should have posted this one:

That way it's not so shocking that I managed to get to here on the Princess last night:

This was 2 full thread lengths to fill in this portion. It's going to be hard to put this one down. I'm thinking I might continue on with this one for one thread length a day until I use the full bit I cut off the skein and see what I feel like at that point.

Happy Stitching!

P.S. I will pick up something else today though. I'm debating about a new start or maybe trying Adobe White again for the evening.

WIP Wednesday and the Madness Begins!

I'm still a little down about not getting the shark done, but you can check out Katie's and Kate's versions to see how they stitched theirs so beautifully. Mine will have to wait a little while until SAL week comes up again. I might have to steal Kate's idea of stitching teeth for the shark, that looks cool!

Here it is so far:

and I also started a little bit of Palko-lap's March calendar when I had a small amount of stitching time this past week. This is on unknown hand-dyed fabric with Jodyri thread Diligence:

I will be putting this one down as well until the 2nd week of March, unless I get any travel time when I'm the passenger, then this will travel with me. It seems unlikely since DH now has whatever DD had and she's still getting over it. Fingers crossed I don't catch it too!

Tonight is also the start of Theme-tas-Stitch March Madness hosted by Kerry. It's a very laid back SAL if you'd like to join. I think I will go a little mad and try and work on a different project every day. It might be a challenge over the BAP week, but maybe I can get some new starts Linda. ;)

I plan to get out Princess and the Dragon tonight and although I may not update every day, I'll try and update at least weekly.

Here's a preview of where it was last:

I will likely continue outlining, but that may depend on how busy it is at home. I might only be up to filling in by the time DD goes to bed.

Happy Stitching everyone!

2026 Year of 100 Starts: Start #68 - Delivering Tricks by Country Spirit Collection

I really don't remember where I picked this chart up. It could be from one of the LNS's that closed in Vermont, or it could be from ...
