WIP Wednesdays

It's still too humid to get out Princess and the Dragon, so I've been plugging away at my hardanger SAL. It's a pleasant stitch and I've managed to mostly complete 2 months and start a third.

February from previous post, still missing beads or French knots, can't decide yet
January:
Wildflowers and Watercolours Alpine Moss
March:
Watercolours Monsoon

My Basque knots aren't as plump as they were in my original one, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Possibly pulling too hard? Or the different count of fabric is having an effect? They're still okay.

Here's the whole thing so far:

I'm stitching it on 18 count Anne Cloth and hope to make an afghan out of it. If anyone has suggestions on how to do that without a sewing machine, I'm all ears!

Happy Stitching,

Tiffstitch

  2. Monsoon is a beautiful set of colors. I guess I assumed that once one were done stitching on afghan fabric, it was an afghan! TIL something new! What needs to be done, a backing fabric to protect the stitches?

    1. Yes and no. This is Anne Cloth, and the sides aren't finished, so I'd have to do something with them. And if this is a "real" afghan for warmth, there will be a bunch of holes in it from the hardanger, so I should back it with something. And that will help keep the stitches protected too. :)
