Zodiac : Taurus

It's time again to talk about another astrological sign. One member of my immediate family is a Taurus, my younger brother. Check out Jo's post for more info on Tauri? Tauruses? and here's a little blurb:

The Bull represents a strong-willed character with great perseverance and determination.  In India Taurus is known by its Sanskrit name Vṛṣabha, which is occasionally given as a name for Shiva and his vehicle Nandi as well as the first of twenty-four Jain Tirthankara, Rishabhanatha.  In Egypt, Taurus was seen as the cow goddess Hathor.  Hathor was the goddess of beauty, love, and happiness, and she represented all of the riches seen in cattle as the providers of nourishment.  Roman astrologers considered Taurus ruled by Venus, the goddess of beauty, and Earth, the goddess of the earth and nature.

I'm going for some nature/earth type shoe horns this time, so let's see what I've stitched since last month that I can squeeze into this theme. :)

Full Moon got a little more progress:

 These lovely flowers....
This snowy scene in Kiss for a Snowman:

Wool is an all-natural fibre right?

Fishing - what could be more nature oriented than this one?

Okay, maybe Mini Winter Magic:

Hope you've all had a good month and Happy Stitching!

Zodiac SAL - Pisces

It's time again to catch up on my SALs. First off, we have the Zodiac SAL hosted by the exuberant Jo over at Serendipitous Stitching. Check out all the information on this month's sign, Pisces, at her page

I dated a Pisces for a while and the description on Jo's blog doesn't really fit that person at all. I married a Sagittarius and that one does align really closely with DH's personality. I'm a pretty solid Virgo beyond the extreme cleanliness, although maybe someone that knows me well is a better person to ask about that.

I stitched on a lot of things last month, so let's see what I can shoe horn into fitting with Pisces, a Water sign represented by 2 fish.

Snow Rules - because what does snow turn into when it melts?
 Fishing - naturally
 Ocean Curiosity - I'm detecting a theme...
Yesterday stitched on Eye of Newt - newts live near and around water
Fabric from Chromatic Alchemy called Poseidon ;)

And the new shawl has these ripples which look a fair bit like waves, don't you think?
skagen shawl pattern by Berroco, yarn is Araucania Huasco I think

Apparently there were quite a few to show off this month. I hope you've all had a good month and please check out the other participants listed on Jo's blog.

Happy Stitching!

Zodiac SAL - Aquarius

I'm really late for this one this month! You can find all the details at Jo's blog since she is once again the hostess with the mostest.

This month's subject is Aquarius, the water carrier. However, it's an Air sign, not a Water sign, so let's see what I worked on last month that I can shoehorn into this month!

Ocean Curiousity - last touched February 13, 2016

I'm stitching this one on some unknown 14 ct fabric that is a sort of smoky purple in colour with WDW Michael's Navy. It's grown a very little bit to here in January:

I also worked quite a lot on the Hitchhiker shawl. Astrid thought it looked more like a spikey dragon's tail, so I'm renaming it the Dragon Tail shawl and therefore it fits in as either an air or water beast. :)
and in the wild!

And does the Covered Bridge finish fit in there for air blowing through those leaves? ;)

I'll try and be more on time next month, which is only in about 10 days! yikes!

Happy Stitching!

Zodiac SAL - Scorpio

It's the first Saturday of the month again and time for a Zodiac post! Head over to Jo's blog to find out what this one is all about and read about Scorpio. I have a few Scorpio's in my family and the description rings true.

Scorpio is a water sign, so I'm shoe-horning in a few stitches with that theme. :)

Covered Bridge - get it?
 Fishing

Plus as an added bonus I finished the Lakeside Needlecraft SAL!!

I even tucked all the ends in and got rid of the waster knots, although this is not quite straight. Water can be all these colours depending on your perspective, reflection from sunset, etc, so I'm going with it!

I hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Happy Stitching,

Late June/July Update

I could have sworn I had a post in July about June stitching, but clearly not. So here are 2 months in one! I will say I had less stitching ...
