Stitch Maynia 2021 Start #18

Day 18 is here and I was so close to a finish with this one! I derailed adjusted my plan a bit when Circus Stitches was having a sale and decided to do this quick little one.

Here's my almost finish:
Oo-de-lally by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 1 on 18ct damask Aida by Silkweavers
with Silks4U PR 069

Right now, the Disney Robin Hood is one of DD's favourite movies and it's always been one of mine, so I'm happy she enjoys it too. For a while when she was younger, she wanted me to sing this to her every night.

I might try and get back to this one and finish it tomorrow as well.

I hope you're all staying healthy and Happy Stitching!

Fully Finished Gallery - December Edition

You may not believe this, but I have multiple finishes this month! I had extra days off over American Thanksgiving and had an urge to do some organizing. Part of that involved going through the "drawer of shame finishes" to see what materials I had, what I wanted to get done, etc. And I managed to fully finish all of these!

Life is Tough by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 2 with stash threads, mostly WDW
on 28ct Rainbow ltd edition by Chromatic Alchemy
framed in a 6x6 inch frame

2018 Ink Spot ornament by Ink Circles
stitched 2 over 2 with Caron Waterlilies
on 28ct Tempest by Chromatic Alchemy

and here it is on the tree. Note the hidden basset hounds :)

Squirrelly by Mill Hill
stitched 3 over 1 as charted
backed with maroon felt and hanger with DMC variations brown thread

Celtic Ice by Ink Circles
stitched 2 over 2 on called for fabric
with Carrie's Creations Night Storm and Blue Dreams
backed with blue felt and hanger with DMC variations blue

Haunted House by Heart in Hand
stitched 2 over 1 with stash threads
on 16?ct fabric scrap
backed with burnt orange felt and hanger with WDW Trick or Treat thread

Boo! by Bent Creek
stitched 2 over 1 mostly as charted with WDW Trick or Treat border
on 16ct Galaxy by Jodyri
backed with burnt orange felt and black DMC hanger

Joy Snowglobe by Dimensions
stitched 2 over 1 on plastic canvas as charted
backed with red felt and extra red thread from kit for hanger

Woodland Santa #8 by Mill Hill
stitched 3 over 1 as charted
backed with dark green felt and green hanger from extra thread

I'm sure you're all surprised by the amount of finishes, although you'll notice most are smalls. But it's still nice to have them all finished, and possibly ready for gifts this year. Don't expect this kind of productivity again though. ;)

Stay well and Happy Stitching!

Fully Finished Gallery - November Edition

I finally made it! I've been meaning to post on Rachel's FFO gallery for months now, but kept not quite managing to get a post up in time. This month I'm determined to do it. I even have multiple things to show now too.

First up, this has been finished for a while:

Siberian Forest QS by HAED
stitched 1 over 1 full cross as charted on 28ct Monaco

I had a few 6x6 inch frames for Mill Hill finishes and turns out this fits just about perfectly! I even washed it, since it was a little grungy after being stitched on since 2012. There wasn't any bleeding of colour thank goodness.

And I'm really excited about my next finish. I gifted it to a friend who is also a bibliophile:

Sleep is Good by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 2 with Caron Waterlilies Plum and Soie Cristal green
on 28ct Bacchus by Chromatic Alchemy

I found these bags at Michael's. They're canvas, lined inside with something silky-looking. They have handles and a zipper. I think they're intended to use as bridesmaids gifts, that kind of thing, but it works pretty well for this. It didn't take very long to complete and I think I even managed to pin it on straight, enough that my friend took a sec to realize I had put it together instead of purchasing new. That's always a nice feeling that you did it well.

Someone had a big birthday around here, and since things are such that there's really no ability to have a party, I wanted to try and make something special. I found these in Issue 13 of the XStitch magazine as part of a pattern for a slot machine.
Are You Feeling Lucky? by Stitchfinity
stitched 3 or 4 over 1 with stash threads on silver perforated paper

I chose rainbow colours since DD loves rainbows and is always drawing and painting them. I had some idea of making 7 of these with individual colours, but that didn't quite work out. I had some Dinky Dyes Down Under Blues left to make 2 sections on these and I thought it was a good indigo colour.

I still need to finish up lots of other projects, so let's switch to knitting as well, since they are easier to fully finish. :)

I managed to complete 2 pairs of socks in the last few months for gifts:
Sweet and Tartan socks by Traci Millar
knit with Fiberstash Fire Engine Red and Charcoal

These were completed for a friend who loves red/black plaid. I'm so glad they turned out well. It's all mosaic knitting, and the heel is a little different from the usual gusset, which I thought made them a little tight to get on when I checked the size. No complaints from the recipient, who has slightly smaller feet, so perhaps not an issue for her feet. If I make them for me, I'll just be sure to use my normal heel.

"vanilla" socks, no particular pattern, cast on 64 stitches per sock
Yarn is If I Wanted Exposure by Blue Moon Fiber Arts

These have been mailed, so hopefully they will fit as well when they're received. I enjoyed how the yarn knit up and sort of striped a bit. I've had this for a couple years from when Countess Ablaze released a dye lot for any dyers interested as long as they were going to contribute some of the proceeds to charity. It's a nice yarn, with a good twist so you don't catch the threads. This is the only Blue Moon yarn I've owned/used so far.

And that's everything I've finished so far. If I can get myself in gear, maybe there will be more for next month.

Stay well and Happy Stitching!

People's Choice SAL - May 2020 - Fire

It's the first weekend of the month, and that means it's time to post about the chosen topic. This month it's Fire, and please check out everyone's posts over at Jo's amazing blog!

I thought this might be difficult, but I found a few ways to shoe horn in some fire or heat related projects.

Victorian Tree
by Mill Hill, stitched as charted, with candles!

Spooky Halloween
by Durene Jones, stitched on Icarus - see what I did there? ;)

Finding Happiness
by Circus Stitches and isn't fire a type of light?

Old Fashioned Tree
by Mill Hill, also candles on this one

Colin Firth
from one of the XS magazines, I forget which one does the portraits and this was sent to me as a single chart from the magazine. And obviously, including because he's hot! :)

Wash Your Damn Hands

by Kincavel Krosses, modified to fit on a towel and including this as a "hot" topic right now

I hope you're all having a good Maynia if you've joined in and a good stitchy weekend all around. I enjoyed shoe horning in these ones, and hope you do too.

Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness 2020 - April Edition

Hello, hello! It's mid-month time and that means Gifted Gorgeousness! Please check out all the participants over at Jo's blog and cheer on their excellent work too. Sometimes the ways we try and shoe-horn in the gifted part gets quite amusing.

I ended up with 2 small/medium finishes this month after participating in the Jodyri/KLT/Circus stitching games.

Look for Rainbows - this is a gift for DD. I'm wondering about a pillow finish if I can find something with darkish rainbow colours.
Look for Rainbows by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 2 on 28ct Pink Elephants on Parade by Jodyri
the word "Stars" at the end is stitched in GITD Kreinik

Sleep is Good - this is for a friend with a 4 year old and a 1 1/2 year old that doesn't like sleep. Therefore she never sleeps either! But she's also a librarian, so I think this fits. I'm wondering if I can attach this to a canvas bag as a book bag?
Sleep is Good by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 2 on 28ct Bacchus by Chromatic Alchemy
with Caron Waterlilies Plum and Soie Cristal green

Rainbow Saturn - for DD, she still dreams of being an astronaut!

Rainbow Saturn by mathysphere from xstitch magazine issue 6
stitched 2 over 2 as charted on 28ct navy linen

Finding Happiness - this might be for DD or it might be for a HP friend. It's almost finished, I should really get it finished off!
 Finding Happiness by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 2 on 28ct Hurricane by PTP
with WDW Marigold and PTB 04 and DMC 310

Mini Waterhole Master - for DD
 Mini Waterhole Master by HAED
stitched 1 over 1 on 28ct Sunrise by Crafty Kitten
I'm at 8K stitches on this one!

One thing that being at home more seems to have done is given me the urge to finish things. I'm surprised I've managed to only have one WIP left after the March Jodyri/KLT/Circus challenge, and it's very close to a finish as well. Plus I even finished some socks recently!

Cabin Socks
Cabin Socks by Courtney Spainhower
knit with Wonderland Yarns and Frabjous Fibers Pigments of Imagination Mary Ann #5 and Silkworm Studios rainbow mini skeins

These socks are for me and fit so well and are perfect, yay! I had to reknit the toe on the purple one when I had originally made it a little short, but now they're both perfect. The pattern is free, so it's like a gift. :)

Happy Stitching!

Gifted Gorgeousness - March 2020 Edition

Here we are, halfway through March already and it's that time again to show off the projects we've been given or are giving away to someone.

Check out Jo's blog for all the fun and I hope you've all been staying safe and healthy! Also, thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad that I caught the flu well before COVID-19 showed up in the US and didn't have that worry as well. I do work in health care, so being extra cautious is the current norm. Stay safe everyone!

On to the fun stuff, stitching! All of these are likely for DD. :)

Mini Winter Magic got a fair bit of progress while I was recovering. I thought it would be good to work on some confetti since my stitching speed was fairly slow anyway and enjoy the process.
Mini Winter Magic by HAED stitched 1 over 1 full cross on 28ct white Monaco

Princess and the Dragon - it's over halfway complete! 55% according to Pattern Keeper, and that app makes stitching this so much easier! I still feel a finish this year is out of the question, especially as the conference I usually stitch at is being reschedule for who-knows-when, but you never know. I'm very much enjoying it.
Princess and the Dragon by Charting Creations
stitched 1 over 1 full cross on 28ct Amarinthine by Chromatic Alchemy

Letters from Nora (H) - look what finally came back out! I do think it's possible to get both this one and the G complete this year, so I think they may stay out for a while.
 Letters from Nora H
stitched 2 over 2 as charted on 28ct Nuriel's Forest by Chromatic Alchemy

Butterfly Quote - this has come out recently for the Jodyri/KLT/Circus competition this month. It's on Facebook if you're interested, although we're well underway at this point. At certain times you have to stitch with hand-dyed thread, or on a Jodyri/KLT/Circus design, so this is a Jodyri design with Jodyri thread mostly. It may get a little more work this month as well.
 Butterfly Quote by Jodyri Designs
stitched 2 over 2 on 14ct aida with mostly Jodyri and one WDW thread

Look for Rainbows - this is a new start for the competition and I liked the concept of this one, even though it's quite simple.
Look for Rainbows by Circus Stitches
stitched 2 over 2 on 28ct Jodyri Pink Elephants on Parade with Soie Cristal Mer and as charted for the rainbow letters

Mini Waterhole Master - I hope to get another 2K or so into this one this month and then pick up Faery Tales again. I'm trying to work in 4K blocks to see decent progress on each one before switching.
Mini Waterhole Master by HAED
stitched 1 over 1 full cross on 28ct Crafty Kitten Sunrise fabric

And I'm back full in the swing of stitching, plus the current level of stress has me stitching more to help my anxiety, so look for more progress coming up.

Fingers crossed we can get ahead of this globally.

Happy Stitching!

Fully Finished Gallery - January 2020

And now it's time to show off what we might have managed to fully finish from our drawers of shame! Or if you're a one-at-a-time stitcher and finish everything as you finish stitching, please share your wisdom. :D I'm not saying I'll start doing it, but I'd like to know how you manage it. This is a great idea to get us fully finishing things and is hosted by the incomparable Rachel at Ten Hour Stitcher. Please check her post for everyone else's finishes as well.

Since I didn't blog a lot in the last half of the year, I do have a few things to show. Some were in my finishes post, and the rest are here:

Plaid Tidings by Little Stitch Girl stitched as charted DMC except the trees, stash Dinky Dyes oops thread, 2 over 2 on 28ct Tempest by Chromatic Alchemy

This was my first ever flat-fold! I used Vonna/Twisted Stitcher's tutorial and it went very well. I had to use DH's paper cutter for the mat board and that was much better than the circular tool I was using. I think I will be able to accomplish this more now that I have one completed and I really like the look of it.

Ye Old Santa by Mill Hill, finished with a cord from leftover kit threads and felt glued on the back.

Caffeine and Chaos by Circus Stitches stitched with WDW threads 2 over 2 on 28ct Bacchus by Chromatic Alchemy

I'm fairly certain I forgot to post this finish on my 2019 finish post. Whoops! It was so quick and fun to stitch as well. I gifted it to a friend that lives up to this phrase. The box was an older one from BendyStitchy destash on Instagram. FYI, it's a dangerous place.

And that's it for fully finished objects since my last FFO post. I hope you've all done very well! (said as Young Mr. Grace from Are You Being Served? as that's always the voice I hear when that phrase is said or read).

Happy Stitching,

Late June/July Update

I could have sworn I had a post in July about June stitching, but clearly not. So here are 2 months in one! I will say I had less stitching ...
