School of Magical Stitches and Literature, Week 1, 2, 3 and 4 Conclusions!

A long overdue catch-up post is here! July has definitely been a busy month, and let's go back to Week 1 of Magical Stitches.

Our tasks were to stitch 300 stitches each on something boring, something out of rotation for over 5 months, and something without a face. I decided to stitch all 900 stitches on AAN Maple Leaf and got quite a bit done. It started here:

Week 2 - we were visiting 12 Grimmauld Place, Sirius Black's family home and therefore we had to stitch 500 stitches on 2 of 3 possible WIPs. We had to link our WIP list as well. Our choices were WIP 1, 2 or 12 on the list. I decided on 1 and 2, which were See Ya Later Alligator and Kiss for a Snowman.

Week 3 - I had posted about needing help here if you'd like to refresh your memory on this post. Basically we had to stitch on things Professor Umbridge likes, which included kittens, the colour pink, tea, RULES, and STRICT. 

Leonore saved my bacon by mentioning that the Universal Monsters SAL has a cat in it, and I had forgotten, so I stitched on that one for kittens and for RULES since it starts with "U" and the design had to start with a letter from that word. It's now here:

For tea, they decided leaves were allowed, so I pulled out Maple Leaf again:

This is a little farther along because I had used it for the Stitchy Quest for the one ring as well. It's practically finished really. 

For pink I was able to use Kiss for a Snowman again and moved it along to here:

and lastly, for a designer that starts with a letter from STRICT, I chose Charting Creations Princess and the Dragon:

Week 4 - this week we're in detention because we keep speaking out in Umbridge's class like Harry Potter. We were to stitch 1000 stitches on something with words or 1000 stitches in black or blue (ink colours). I decided to pull out Butterfly Quote again which was last here:

School of Magical Stitches and Literature Year 4, Week 8: End of the Year

Here it is, the last week of June and the last week of Book 4: The Goblet of Fire. I need to add in books I've read, etc. into the tasks, and I realized I haven't mentioned any of the extra credit stitching. I didn't have much chance to do it as I'm stitching on the other group too, so I don't know that I finished any of that part. I'll have a look through as I'm filling out all the other tasks and add it in another post if I manage to get any done.

This is the conclusion to Book 4, which is a harsher end than most young adult books, but it is still an excellent read. I hope everyone has read the books, otherwise some of these tasks might contains spoilers.

There are several parts to this week's event, and the stitch count varies. I'm not even close to done this one, so any help is always welcome! My WIP list is here.

Task 1) Stitch 200 stitches on objects that are touching (because Cedric and Harry touched the TriWizard cup at the same time)

I said the books in Room 4 of Monsters are touching, so stitched 202 stitches on Monsters:

Task 2) Voldemort attacked at the tournament, stitch 200 stitches in black or grey

Again this is out of order with the top photo, but I had stitched the bottom room outline before filling out Room 3:

Task 3) Stitch 100 stitches on a grave or graveyard scene to represent Cedric's murder. I don't have anything chosen for this yet, as I don't know if I have anything that has this on it. Maybe a Halloween piece somewhere? Might need a new start ;)

Task 4) Harry's parents appeared to help him, stitch 200 stitches on a project you needed help with (fabric, thread advice, etc). I'm using modifications to Monsters, so will use that:

51 stitches in, Room 3 is done. I still need to stitch another 150 stitches to complete this task. 

Task 5) Stitch 200 stitches on an ingredient in polyjuice potion (this is a challenge!) because Professor Moody was being impersonated by someone using this potion. The ingredients include lacewings, boomslang skin, leeches, knotgrass, powdered horn of Bicorn and a bit of whomever you want to turn into. 

Task 6) Harry turned his TriWizard tournament winnings over to Fred and George Weasley so they could start a joke shop. We need to stitch 100 stitches on something that makes us laugh. This will likely be monsters again.

School of Magical Stitches and Literature, Year 4, Week 4

This week's homework assignment involves a little more effort on our part. This task involves a little background about house elves, who are servants to wizards and witches. Most are treated well, although some are basically slaves that are constantly abused (see Dobby from Chamber of Secrets). Hermoine Granger, who came from a Muggle/non-magic family finds the fact that Hogwarts uses several house elves scandalous as she feels they should not have to serve anyone, despite the fact it generally makes house elves happy to be of service. She feels every elf should be free and starts a club called the Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare (SPEW).

Our task this week is to find a project that fits each letter of S.P.E.W., whether it's the designer or the pattern name. It must be the first word in the pattern name, and not SAL for S, etc.

I haven't figured out exactly what I'd like to stitch for each one, but I do have some options. We are to stitch 200 stitches on each project. If you'd like to suggest anything, please feel free! My WIP list can be found here.

1) S - I haven't decided which project yet, but I'm thinking either Sleigh Ride stocking or See Ya Later Alligator. I like See Ya Later better, but feel like I should really pick up Sleigh Ride as it's been a while since it's been touched.

2) P - Princess and the Dragon - I think this is an obvious choice. It's been moving along so well! Currently it's here:

200 stitches should finish off that gap under the princess' foot, or just move the bottom along some more, or possibly even work up the left side a bit. I've been filling in a lot, but not really progressing on the actual pattern. 

3) E - Evening in the Shire - I think this is my only 'e' project, so should be easy enough to get a few more stitches in. 

4) W- Witchy Stitcher's Universal Monsters SAL. I have completed this one and used the greens from Room 3 (#fancyfishman) for the 200 required stitches. 

So please let me know any suggestions or what you'd like me to work on. I have a loose plan and provided I can get a little time tonight I should get at least one of these completed, possibly 2 more. Evening in the Shire will work for the yellow and gray for the LOTR group too, so that would be getting 3 total tasks crossed off with one project. :)
