Gifted Gorgeousness - July Edition

Well, it's a little embarrassing how long it's been since I've posted, but I'd like to thank everyone again for your lovely comments on everything. Keith loved his personalized gift, my Mom loved the shawl and DD loves her socks too, which are now a complete pair.

Again, I've been doing more knitting than stitching this past month. Part of that is the heat had really set in and it was too hot to stitch because I'm always worried about sweaty hands, but knitting is a little more forgivable that way. I had also signed up for a couple KALs (knit-a-longs), so used the time to work on things for that.

However, I did get out one stitching project last month!

The top post is a little more true to the fabric colour, not sure why the front legs look darker though, same thread, WDW Okeefeenokee, is the same throughout. I think it was a new skein though, so maybe different dyelot.

I was doing well until the heat and humidity stuck around for a week, I couldn't work on this when it was that hot. A few more days should have a finish!

I started this 5th pair of socks when I was on my way to my parents. I finished one while I was there, which was good for sizing, and mostly finished the other on the way home. These were mailed to my sister and have arrived safely. She says they're a "hug for her feet" after wearing flip flops all day.

Pair 3 is complete! DD loves them and has worn them frequently.
Fiberstash Unicorns in SPACE! and Neon mini skein kit

Pair 2 has one sock complete, other sock is not started yet though
I think this is Malabrigo sock yarn?

Shawl With No Name
first time attempting slip stitch mosaic, I love it!

I'm not sure if this will be gifted or not. I used Great Adirondack Yarn company cotton yarn and it's so soft I might have to hold onto this one.

And that's what I've been up to. I'm woefully behind in blogs and will do my best to catch up. I hope everyone has been well! Cross stitch will still be minimal until it cools off a little more, it's so humid and we don't have AC, although we're having a serious conversation about it this year.

Happy Stitching!

  1. Congrats on all of the gorgeous knitting projects Tiffany. I can knit but don't like it. I love to crochet. In fact, I just got an order for a baby blanket but being in the hundreds here it doesn't sound like much fun to work on. Nice progress on the spider.

    1. Thank you Linda! I cannot crochet, although I've attempted to learn a few times. Good luck, although yes, yarn in this weather is not comfortable.

  2. Hi Tiffany, great work on the stitching. We are too suffering with the warm weather. I agree it is hard work with the stitching. Love all the fun pair of socks :)

  3. I know how you feel about keeping up with blogs...between life and your own blog, it's getting to be a difficult thing, but we all know you're there, so don't worry!

  4. I love the spider, but understand about the sweaty hands.
The socks all look fun, such great colours. The shawls look wonderful too!

    1. Thank you. I really want to get back to cross stitch and am debating about it tonight. Maybe even a few stitches in something not as big and cumbersome. :)

  5. The heat we've been having is just crazy. We were finally able to shut off our AC today and they said they rest of our July is going to be beautiful. About time! Love your spider and your knitting.

    1. Wow! That's great. We're hitting a humid patch right now, which is fairly seasonable really, so it's just another week or so hopefully and it will cool off.

  7. Your spider is gorgeous! I stitch throughout the year, I would think knitting would make you hotter working with cosy wool?!
The socks are all so nice, and who wouldn't love Unicorns in Space socks?!

    1. It doesn't seem to make me hotter actually, although maybe it depends on the yarn used? Most of the wool seems not too hot really, it breathes better than some of the acrylics. The shawl is all cotton too, so it wasn't too hot.

  8. Lovely progress! I seem to be a complete opposite from you in this matter...I usually don't do a lot of knitting in the summer as I can't stand touching the wool when I am already too hot! Stitching is no problem, but then I don't get sweaty hands a lot.

    1. Thank you! It's weird, stitching in the summer is always difficult for me without AC, but knitting hasn't really made me warmer, it's strange, I know! I seem to pass all my heat through my hands and feet for some reason. :)

  9. I have the opposite problem; I find it easier to stitch than knit in the summer. BTW, I love the colors in the socks! It is very hot and humid here as well and I've decided I hate summer. We have had the AC discussion also, but so far nothing has come of it.

    1. We might have gone for it already if we didn't have a few minor house things to take care of, and we may still if the heat really settles in. I'll try and get to your blog to see what you've been up to. :)

  10. Good progress on stitching. I have been crocheting for a while because I have been stitching for a long time. Your knitted projects are lovely:) You make me jealous by showing those socks. I have to make one but I don't have a peaceful mind at the moment to tackle my earlier failures at making socks:(
Hope the hot and humid weather be over soon for you. We can't survive without ACs, we have six at home, just left the bathrooms, lol.

  11. Yay for all the socks~ :D I like the rainbow colorway! I flip flop between really productive and not doing anything at all in this kind of weather. I would die without AC though. Or live in the basement, splatted on the cement floor hah.
