Turtle Trot - October Edition (late!)

I forgot about Turtle Trot yesterday! I have a great excuse and I did a lot of stitching, but I'm still annoyed I forgot.

My excuse is taking an epic fall from my bike yesterday morning. I didn't unclick my shoes like I should have as we neared a road and when DH warned me a car was coming I toppled over when I stopped since my feet were still attached to my bike.

I'm okay, just some bruises and I got back on my bike and biked for a while longer. I iced my knees when I got home, but I didn't ice my hip as much as I should have. It's okay enough for me to try hockey tonight though. I haven't played in years and I can't wait to try it again.

But on to stitching! For Turtle Trot:

Song of the Weather:
March:
April:
May:
June:
July:
So far:

I have some hope of finishing this up this year and with luck by November. :)

Homeward Bound I worked on yesterday and it progressed well from here:
to here:

I think that's a good amount for a day of stitching, but I only stitched since I couldn't do anything else. So I don't know that I will be able to get this much done every weekend, but I'm happy that I managed a fair bit. The confetti is done in the center circle and the B5200 satin wasn't too much of a pain to work with.

Happy Stitching and don't forget to unclick your bike shoes at every crossing. :)

Halfway Done!

I managed to finish the June square last night and started July. I wasn't energetic enough to get up and find anything else to stitch and I liked the new colour in July.

Here's June with Caron Aurora on 18 count Anne cloth:

I really enjoyed stitching this one. It's a really pretty colour and the extra details weren't too fiddly either and definitely not hard on my wrists .

And July started with WDW Periwinkle. There will be a lot of purple in this one, and Mrs. Milkybar Kid should like it. :)

And the whole piece so far:

I hope I can get it finished by November! Tomorrow we're hosting people for Canadian Thanksgiving and it will be a busy day. But I'm off Saturday, so I might have some time to stitch on something. Stay tuned to find out what. ;)

Happy Stitching,

WIP Wednesday - So Close!

I stayed up a little too late last night watching the Ottawa Redblacks narrowly lose to the Toronto Argonauts. They lost because of this amazing, stupendous, unbelievable catch. I couldn't post the video, but you can see it if you click the link. It was amazing!

And despite staying up too late I didn't quite finish my June square.

It's kind of annoying since there's only a tiny section left! But I'll finish it tonight and then work on something else. I'm not sure if I'll get Homeward Bound out or start the July square. Depends how much time I have likely since I have to get pie crusts made for Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend as well.

Happy Stitching,

Weekend Wrap-Up - A Page Finish!

Thank you for all your comments! Work is definitely smoother now and will hopefully continue that way until the end of the year.

I finished my first page of Princess and the Dragon! This has been fun and now that I've decided to outline areas and then fill them in it's much more enjoyable. I'll show you what I mean:

I stitch this way:

And then I end up with an easy way to finish the page here:

since I'm only filling in instead of having to follow the pattern so closely it makes it a very easy stitch.

The dragon's body stretches across 2 pages so it will be filled in when I'm on the next page to the right. I will likely go down next so it will wait for a while.

With everything I feel like I "need" to finish and with 1 over 1 on 28count on Princess, I took a break and worked a little bit on the Jodyri butterfly quote putting in another full thread length of Pink Laydee:

This is a very easy stitch since it's on 14 count and I'm really enjoying how the colours are developing. The fabric is a little brighter and bluer than it shows here.

Last night I was going to pick another CJC project to work on, but I felt like getting back to hardanger and checking the new colour for June. I love it! Although I completely forgot to check the name of it, so I'll try and get that for you tomorrow.

I had enough time to finish the Kloster blocks and one leaf stitch as well as starting the border stitch. I think I'll manage to finish all the borders and leaf stitches as well as the designs that belong in each diamond, but I don't know that I'll be able to finish the inner X with cutting and wrapping by tomorrow. We'll see.

I'm determined to get out Homeward Bound as soon as I finish this and see how far along I can get. I had hoped to finish it by November since I'd like to give it to my Grandma and here we are in October.

There isn't a ton to do, just a little confetti on the top of the circle and a lot of sort of filigree details but I don't know if I have time to finish. It was too warm to stitch on it until recently and now I don't know if I have time. I'm not going to panic about it though.

My current plan is finish June, work on Homeward Bound, start and finish July, work on Homeward Bound and maybe with luck I'll finish both in time to see my Grandma in mid-November. I'd like to finish at least one.

I think I'll also finish-finish the Joy ornament so that if I can't finish both, I'll still have 2 gifts for her.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

Happy Stitching,

YOTA SAL - October Edition

Here we are again on the first Saturday of the month, so it must be YOTA SAL check-in time. Don't forget to visit Pull The Other Thread for info on YOTA and show off your progress on your UFOs and check out everyone's posts.

As I talked about in my post last month, I did a lot more work on the Dimensions Joy ornament and managed to finish all the stitching!

I also picked up the Song of the Weather SAL and managed to finish through May. February was in my last YOTA post, so these are the other months:

January
Caron Alpine Moss on 18 count Anne Cloth
March
Caron Monsoon on 18 count Anne Cloth - same as above but looks yellow for some reason

April
Caron Pale Lilac on 18 count Anne Cloth
May
Caron Lilac on 18 count Anne Cloth

I plan on working on a month at a time with other projects in between. Hardanger seems to be hard on my wrists, even though I enjoy stitching it.

I'm working on a couple non-CJC projects currently and will get back to a CJC project before going back to the June hardanger square. I've finished 6/10 of my "hope I finish this year" projects from this post and I'm debating about picking one of them or something entirely different.

Work was a little stressful the past couple of weeks, so I was thinking about a larger count project, or something that's over 2 instead of Princess and the Dragon being 28 count over 1. We'll see. I'm very close to finishing a page on Princess, so I might continue on and finish before moving on to something else.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and happy stitching!

Drumroll....... Finished!

At my usual bedtime I only had the fan stitch to finish, so I stayed up late to complete this:
May Song of the Weather by Mabel's Fancie with Caron Wildflowers and Watercolours Lilac

I'm very happy with how it turned out. I like the colours and as I mentioned yesterday, the uneven bars were easy to do.

I'll take a break from hardanger for a few days and work on something else for awhile. Maybe finally finish that page from Princess and the Dragon? Or pull out another of my CJC projects that still needs work.

Also, I was listening to the radio and heard the ultimate summer song. Think of this as an honourable mention to my post from Tuesday:

Hope everyone has a great stitchy weekend!
