Somebunny Update and Halloween Stitching

I hope you all had a good weekend! Work was crazy yesterday and we're still dealing with computer issues at home, so I wasn't able to get my post up.

I'm pretty happy with the progress on Somebunny though. It started here in January:

and after Sunday night was here:

and after last night it's here:

I'm stitching 2 over 2 with recommended DMC on 28 ct Aether Lugana from Chromatic Alchemy. It has a subtle blue/pink tone to it. I'm fairly certain I can have this finished and framed by DD's birthday. It will be close to 7 inches square when completed, so an 8x8 frame should work well. That is fairly easy to find at the local stores.

I also pulled out more Halloween stitching and have a new start!

17. Bat by Durene Jones

This is a free pattern on her Facebook page and I'm using the recommended DMC threads, stitching 2 over 1 on 16 or 18 count scrap Aida. I couldn't resist how cute this one is. I was tentatively considering finishing him for a party last Friday, but that certainly did not happen. Still a cute addition to my house though!

18. Boo House

19. Halloween Monster

All done except the outline box around him. That should be fairly quick to do, and pop him in the mail after fully finishing.

A question for all of you, do you like seeing before and after pictures on everything? Or only things that haven't been out recently? I didn't add before shots on the Halloween photos, but did on Somebunny, so please let me know if you have a preference. I don't want to overload you with photos either. :)

Happy Stitching!

  2. These are all fabulous! Thank you for the link to the Durene Jones FB page. The new cupcakes piece she shared has one with a snowman that is adorable!

Before and after photos are always fun to me, but I am happy seeing your work either way. :) I find before/after photos helpful for me to see how much I accomplished - particularly when I do not feel like I can see the difference just looking at a piece.

  8. Great progress on Somebunny, how long do you have before the big day?
I am stitching Durene Jones Halloween designs too, might have to add that bat to the collection!
I don't mind about photos, before and after are nice if it's a larger project as it shows off how much you have stitched.

    1. I'd like to finish the bat and maybe Boo House, although we'll see how it goes now that I've got Somebunny to try and finish as well. :) I seem to do this to myself a lot.

  10. Great progress on your Bunny project!
    Lovely Halloween little crosses too.
I love cross stitch related photos!!!
On WIP and bigger projects, before & after photos are always nice as we can see how much you have stitched (this is perhaps because I am a slow stitcher!)

  11. I like to see any pics, I think its nice to see yourself the progress you have made if you look back too, it doesn't always seem obvious how much you have stitched till you look again on the computer screen.

  13. The little bat is adorable, hooray for freebies! :D

I like before/after pictures though I do agree it can make a post difficult to load, especially if the images aren't resized.

  15. Love the Durene bat, he's so cute!
Nice progress on the Somebunny too.
I think before and after pictures are nice if you haven't worked on a piece for a while but if it's an active WIP we will have seen them in the recents posts.
